| Saturday 17 May 2008 | John W4HDW Celebrates 83
If you frequent the 146.97 repeater in Virginia Beach, then it is without doubt you have bumped into John W4HDW at least once or twice. John has lived all over the area at one time or another. He has been in the area long enough to have lived in Virginia Beach and then Norfolk without ever moving! Can you figure that out?
Until just recently John lived in the Lake Placid section of VB, but has since moved into a very nice, assisted living community. I know that a few of our local amateurs have been assisting John with a new station, at his new location. Just today, Don AI4ME, mentioned that he heard John on the 97 machine, so I must assume that the station set up was a success. If you have any further info, please advise.
John retired from US Navy service as a Master Chief. On May 10th, John and many of his good friends and family celebrated his 83rd Birthday. Dave KF4NMK, sent along a few pictures of the joyful event. Happy Birthday John!!!
