A Few Words From The President…
I’m excited about the membership meeting this Thursday night (November 5th). We have a great program lined up, and some important business to take care of as well. Ron W8RJL will have the evening's program. It will be all about QSL-ing. If you ever wondered about QSL cards, then don’t miss this program. What is a QSL? How big is a QSL? Do I really need to send it in an envelope? Why? What the heck is an IRC and why would I need one? Where the heck do I get them? Ron is sure to cover all the bases, and of course he’ll do a brief Q&A after his program. This will be an important meeting for the business of the Club as well! We’ll hear about the JOTA station and what a great job our Club did with that (Big Thanks to Joe KI4RKB!); Al WA4TCJ has an important announcement; we will have a discussion on the future vision for the Club and dues; a progress report from the Nominating Committee (remember, nominations are accepted up until the December Board of Directors meeting); and speaking of elections, we will be voting on the Ham Of The Year 2009. We also have a special announcement concerning a proposal by the Board for a special tribute to Wally W4KXV (SK), and we’ll need your approval to carry it forward. We will have a signup sheet at the meeting for the Holiday Party. It takes the place of our regular December meeting on Thursday, December 3rd at the Ramada at the Beach. This promises to be a fun event! Come to the meeting prepared to make your meal choices. This is a "sit-down" dinner with three exceptional menu choices: Chesapeake Bay Crab Cake Dinner, Sirloin Steak or Pesto Primavera with Grilled Chicken. The food will be catered by Mahi Mah’s. Coffee, tea or soda is included, along with a Caesar Salad, the Chef's choice vegetable and a potato. Top it all off with a house made Key Lime Pie with cinnamon graham crust, a cash bar and lots of door prizes. All for only $30 per person. Although you can pay through the website, it would be best if you make your reservation and pay at the meeting. (No PayPal fees that way!) “Rag Chew Reception” (mix and mingle) at 6:30 PM, dinner at 7:30. We’ll be in the Neptune Room(s) with a great view of the Boardwalk (think “Holiday Lights At The Beach!”) and the ocean. This party is a big change for us, so I hope you’ll show your support by joining us for the party (and bring a guest!) If not, we can always go back to the Golden Corral for next year… See you at the meeting this Thursday night (November 5th), 7:30 PM at Saint Andrew's United Methodist Church. 73, Steve Batton W4XQ VBARC President |
